Defaulted Payments.

I am a married man, 61 years old with six children. After retirement at 60, I started my own consulting company dealing in Radio & TV Project Planning & implementation; Site inspection; Feasibility Study; Financial Projections; Registration and Licence acquisition; Management; Professional Training; Studio equipment, transmitter and antenna recommendation. Other activities include; Market survey, marketing strategies, planning and implementing Programme schedule. I help in registering, managing and giving advice to radio stations. I also help in bringing back to their feet near bankruptcy radio stations.

For several years now, I have done consulting jobs to several clients. Some of the clients have paid me in time or without much delay, but some of the clients especially those that owe me big bucks are taking a long time to pay me. Some of them even clearly show no intention of paying me. To mention the most prominent debtors are: City FM, $ 50,000.=, Radio S $ 20,000.=, YI & Co. $ 2000.=, GL FM radio $ 3,000.=

From the delays, I fail to meet my very important obligations like paying school fees for the younger children and college fees for my older children. Also I have defaulted one year rent payment to the office I am using and house rent is also six months behind schedule. The landlord has given me notice to hand over his house by 31st December, 2011. If I do not get paid enough money to pay six months’ rent, I will be thrown out of the house.

I have reminded my debtors on several occasions and have even threatened to take them to court. But they seem not to mind much. I have signed contracts with them which bind them legally but they seem to shove a cold shoulder.


Now I am thinking of changing my profession as I feel this profession does not pay. Can you tell me what is hindering them paying me promptly? What should I do so that they pay me in time for me to meet my obligations? What job should I seek that may enable me to get a fair pay in due time?
