The word has been use by many to mean that anyone that practices other religion other than Christianity, Muslim such was the ancient Greeks and Romans.

So to is Judaism, and other religion.

The beliefs are generally about working with nature, and many symbols, candles, chants, incense are use in some of their rituals.

To some the word has been use with those that are not too rigid with religion or a person who is sensual, materialistic, self-indulgent.

Many people believe in living in harmony with the earth and its forces and to them that is considered paganism, some also worship many deities.
