Ruth Montgomery
Ruth Montgomery (1912 - June 10, 2001) was an American journalist and self-described Christian psychic who was a protégée of Arthur Ford. She initially believed her mission on Earth was to educate the public on her belief in life after death. She also studied reincarnation and came to believe that mental and physical illnesses often have their connections in past lives. Who Founded Past Life Research? With other like-minded mystics, she founded the Association for Past Life Research and Therapy. Her many books (which she says were channeled from her spirit guides) popularized spiritualist notions in public consciousness in the 1980s and 1990s, and paved the way for what is now known as New Age religion. She also believed in free will and felt that we all can make our own decision with our destiny. She is particularly noted for her popularization of the walk-in theory which is for many the person may behave differently from previously established behavior patterns. The person may speak in an unfamiliar language, be disoriented and that the original personality is gone and a new one has taken overthe body.
